A 62 year old's journey to qualify for the Boston Marathon
A last “easy” run before tomorrow’s marathon. Just get the legs going.
Today’s run was a 5.1 mile route with a few good hills. Pace was 9:39. Weight was 147.4.
Good morning for a run. It’s Fall but not the later Fall where the temperatures are getting low. Enjoy it while it’s here.
Today’s run was a 10.6 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 9:52.
A cool and misty early morning. It stopped raining maybe 15 minutes before I hit the road.
Today’s run was a 7.1 mile mostly flat route. Pace was 9:38. Weight was 148.8.
Today was the Twin Lights Half. With the Newport Marathon in a week, I went for a good pace but not a hard push. Felt spent for the first five miles or so — very odd. Starting feeling better and by mile 12 I was ready to push the last mile.
Today’s race was a rather hilly 13.1 mile route. Pace was 9:16. Weight was 149.2.
First “cool” day this Fall. Temperatures around 42 degrees and clear skies. Summer days with high humidity is harder training, but there is something to be said for not running in 110% humidity and 70+ degrees.
Today’s run was a 10.6 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 9:44. Weight was 148.2.
Decided to take two days off after Sunday’s 24.5 mile run,. Sunday’s pace was the fastest pace I’ve ever run for a distance of around 25 miles,.
Nice weather for an early morning run. Temperature around 50 degrees, mostly clear skies and a gentle breeze. I’ll take it when I can.
Today’s run was a 7.1 mile fairly flat route. Pace was an easy 9:43. Weight was 148.8.
This is the last “long run Sunday” before the last (planned) marathon for the year. There are no plans to really slack off on the distance too much, but if something comes up in November that takes out a Sunday run then it’s not as important as a Sunday prepping for an upcoming race.
I’ve signed up for the Newport Marathon several times. Never ran it. Something always happens. One year it was a twisted ankle one week before the race. I could just barely walk the next day. Ugh! I can’t remember what the issues were for other years (suppressed memory??). Whatever. If something nutty happens again then I give up on entering until the very last minute.
Today’s run was a 24.57 mile route with some hills. Pace was 10:01, which is my best for any run over 20 miles I think. It translates to about a 4:23 marathon, also a PR. We’ll see. Weight was 148.8 before the run and 146.2 after. Interesting. I drained my Camelbak of about 35 fluid ounces at mile 23 so I managed the hydration just about perfectly.
Today’s run was a 12.5 mile somewhat rolling hills route. I need to keep up the distance, since the Newport Marathon is a bit over two weeks away. Pace was 9:52. Weight was 147.0.
Decided to take two days off to rest after the half marathon on Sunday. A little healing time is not a bad thing. Now back to it.
Today’s run was a 7.1 rather flat route. Pace was 9:45. Weight was 148.4.
First cool morning of the early Fall. Temperature was about 49 degrees with clear skies. Nice and dry.
