Training Log 11/15/2024

First day of running along the roads that I use for the longer distances. So glad to be getting back to a semblance of normal. The hamstring is still complaining. It’s nowhere near as painful as earlier. The goal is to take it slow, slow, slow while ramping up the distance. Anything uphill is not much more than pushing with one leg. Caution is the word of the day for now.

Today’s run was a 4.33 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 10:22. Total climb was around 205 feet.

A cool and damp early morning. Not bad at all. The bits of rain that we had moved past my short route well in time to get in the easy run. I don’t really care too much about the conditions, but, if I can, I prefer to avoid having to dry out the shoes.

Today’s run was a short 2.18 mile mostly flat route. Pace was 10:28. Total climb was 90 feet.

Back to it. The hamstring is getting better. Not there yet by a long shot, but getting there. Hopefully I can work in getting on the road every day.

Nice, mild/warm early morning. The bits of rain overnight moved out, temperature around 54 and not much of a breeze. Nice and easy on the road.

Today’s run was a 4.23 mile mostly flat route. Total climb was around 155 feet. Pace was 11:01.

Training Log 11/07/2024

Nice, mild (for November) early morning. Temperature around 50 degrees. Still no rain. We’ve been under a fire alert for weeks now.

Starting to ramp up the distance a bit. Still the “take a few days off to let the hamstring recover” routine. I’m thinking of ditching that starting next week. This not how we train for marathons.

Today’s run was a 7.28 mile rather flat route, with a short 10+% grade hill at the end. Going up the hill is very slow. No push on the hamstring at all. Total climb was about 250 feet. Pace was 10:33.

Today was a bit longer on the road. Not much, but something. Another dry early morning. I can’t remember the last day it rained.

Today’s run was a 4.23 mile mostly flat route. Total climb was about 155 feet. Pace was a slow 11:00.

Training Log 11/01/2024

A foggy early morning short run. One of those mornings that you want to be sure you’re wearing something that drivers can easily see.

This “short runs and a few days off for hamstring rest” stuff is getting a bit old. Maybe one more week. January is starting to show up on the distant horizon.

Today’s run was a 2.18 mostly flat route. Total climb was around 90 feet. Pace was 10:17.

Training Log 10/28/2024

One more easy run around the hotel area before we had to the train. A nice, cool early morning. Lots of traffic at a few intersections, so the time is a rough guess. Who cares.

Today’s run was a 2.07 mile flat route. Total climb was around 70 feet. Pace was 9:54.

Training Log 10/26/2024

Easy run down to the Potomac and back. The hamstring is still an issue, but some work rest seems to be OK. This is taking quite a while to get better.

Today’s run was a 1.95 mile flat route. Only 75 feet of climb. Pace was 10:21.

Training Log 10/23/2024

One more very mild, dry, calm early morning. These are the last few before it starts to get cold. Temperature around 50 degrees and some fog.

The hamstring feels like it’s getting better. It’s still stiff for the first mile or so. I might try a heating pad before tomorrow’s run. I can’t really stretch it to loosen it up.

Today’s run was a 5.26 mile hills route, including a very slow climb up a 10+% grade hill.. Pace was 10:28. Total climb was around 325 feet.

Training Log 10/21/2024

Nice early morning for a run. Temperature around 40 degrees, no wind and clear skies. The hamstring is still feeling like I can’t push at all, but later in the run it was feeling a bit better. I’m being oh so careful. It’s very slow, but it’s getting out and putting in a little work.

Today’s run was a 3.71 mile rather flat route. “Pace,” such that it was, at around 11:11. Total climb was about 120 feet.
