Ah, the grind. The hardest part is getting up when it’d be so nice to sleep another hour.
Today’s run was a fairly flat 4.15 mile route. Pace was a relaxed 10:02. Lots of potholes to dodge in the dark.
First day ramping up the distance. Nice and easy. One day at a time.
Temperature was around 28 degrees with clear skies and mild winds. Except for the spots on the road that were slushy or coated with black ice, conditions were ideal.

First week back on the road. Distances are short but no issues at all so far. Time to ramp it up a bit. Not crazy though!

A sunny, not-a-cloud-in-the-sky morning for a run. A bit cold (14 degrees) but still ideal. The only issue is the snow/ice that lines the roads and takes up the berm. At best you’re running right on the solid white line.

Snow-covered roads are a workout multiplier. Running down a dry street is next to mindless, but running down that same street when it’s covered in a few inches of wet, heavy, loose snow is altogether different.
Today’s run was a 1.5 mile mildly rolling hills route. Pace was 9:48. Five days and no issues at all with the left quad. So far, so good.
Days like today are why I’ve sometimes questioned the sanity of runners. It’s about 35 degrees with a steady rain outside. And it felt great. So strange.

First day trying some running. Start with very short distances, but at least it’s outside hitting the road. Perfect day too: -4 degrees at 5AM.
