A warm, moist morning for a run. Temperature around 44 degrees, not much wind, and a bit foggy. First day out without a chest wrap for the bruised ribs. Much, much better. Hopefully I can get back to it without the wrap.

Today’s run was a 4.33 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 10:03, target pace was 10:20. Total climb was about 205 feet.

Perfect early morning for a run, except for waking up with a headache. Ugh. Take some aspirin and go back to bed for an hour. Headaches are something I’ve learned to respect.

Today’s run was an improvised 4.79 mile mildly rolling hills route. Not what I planned, but it’s something. Pace was 9:58. Total climb was about 250 feet.

A pleasant early morning for a run. Temperature around 28 and not too much wind. Pleasant weather but a bit of a tired run. Odd. I’m thinking that I’m pressing a bit to push the pace just a little. I need to be working on getting the time down. I should be able to start on some interval training soon. It all depends on the hamstring.

Today’s run was a 9.05 mile rolling hills route. Pace was somewhere around 10:01 or so. Total climb was 465 feet.

A cool and windy early morning. Temperature around 24 with a 15+ mph colder wind. Not bitter, but definitely chilling. It’s a day for a wind outer layer.

Another “feature” of strong winds (gusts yesterday were over 40 mph) is that it blows down all sorts of tree limbs. These collect in the berms. So much fun to dodge around in the dark. Speaking of dark, this is the last day before DST kicks in. Back to mostly dark for a while.

Today’s run was a 11.22 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 10:20. Total climb was around 600 feet.

A wet and warm early morning. Temperature around 50 degrees and windy. Wow. It’s hard to remember how to dress for “warm” days.

Today felt very low energy for the first three or so miles. Some days are like that. Maybe start experimenting with different pre-run fueling and hydration.

Today’s run was a 5.12 mile hills route. It should’ve been 5.26 but I forgot and turned onto the usual way back and missed the last hill. Pace was around 10:21. Total climb was about 275 feet.

Training Log 03/04/2025

Nice weather for an early morning run. Temperature around 21 degrees, not much wind, and the breeze wasn’t face-ripping bitter cold. We deal with whatever’s out there, but not having to deal with the more extreme stuff is one less headache.

Today’s run was a 4.33 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 9:49. Total climb was around 205 feet.

A rather cold early morning for a run. Temperature was around eight degrees and some wind in places. Not too bad at all.

What was, let’s say, “not ideal,” is the condition of many of the roads. Lots of potholes on dark roads. What was ideal is that it’s getting light out early enough so that I could see the roads for much of the run. You chart out a route through the minefields and hopefully remember it after the upcoming change to daylight savings time.

Today’s run was a 9.05 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 10:13 or so.. Total climb was around 465 feet.

First day back after a crazy last few days. Nice to get back out on the road. Weather was great: temperature around 40 degrees and a stiff wind. 40 degrees is cold in the Fall and warm in the Spring.

I bought a rib support wrap and it worked perfectly. Didn’t feel any pain. Hopefully it’ll stay that way and get better.

Today’s run was a 4.33 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 10:04. Total climb was around 205 feet.

Wow. “Warm” out. Temperature was around 32 degrees and not much wind. It’s been getting above freezing during the day for the past few days, so the daytime melt is black ice the next morning. Hard to see in the dark on black asphalt.

The ribs and back felt fine at the start but started complaining mildly after about three miles. Time to get a wrap for bruised/fractured ribs. An ace bandage as a test worked, but better to get something made for the actual problem. I’ll try it out tomorrow.

Today’s run was a 9.05 mile rolling hills/skiing on ice route. Pace was 10:23. Total climb was about 465 feet.

Today’s run was a short test run with my ribs wrapped. It does help, but then it’s a bit harder to breathe. Today was also a test day to try to up the tempo. Increase the number of steps per minute but not increase the push per step. Take that the same.

Today’s run was a test 2.18 mile rather flat route. Pace was a faster 9:52. Total climb was about 90 feet.
