A very cold morning again for a ride. With the breeze, the wind chill was in the single digits.

Today’s ride was a 7.15 mostly flat route. Pace was 4:55 (limited by temperature). Weight was 150.6.

I figured out that the shifter problem was due to the lubricants that were used not liking all the cold. Some penetrating oil and a short blast of WD-40 got it working again, and then some bike oil to keep it working. I plan to get some Teflon lube.

Today’s early morning ride was a bit too long for the conditions. It was about 18 degrees, a windchill of 11 and probably around a zero windchill on the bike. It was definitely colder than the 23 degrees and “feel like” of 24 that my weather app reported. My fingers and toes were frozen when I got home. Also, it was just too cold to do much speed on any downhill sections.

Today’s ride was a 12.4 mile rolling hills route. Pace was very limited by the cold at about 5:10. Weight was 150.8

A cold and breezy early morning. Temperature was in the low 20’s and the wind chill somewhere around 10. A few places on the ride were bitter but that’s it.

Today’s ride was an 8.05 mile rolling hills route. I forgot to stop my watch at the end of the ride but the pace was probably around 4:50. Weight was 150.4.

A bitter cold morning. Temperature was around 16, winds at 23 gusting over 30 and a wind chill of -9. Today was a day to stay close to home. The winds were straight down a few streets and directly across another, so I had a chance to experience first-hand what a stiff crosswind feels like.

Today’s route was two loops around home. Total distance about 2.1 miles. Mostly flat but there is a small hill. Pace was more of a “don’t get blown off the road or freeze” pace of 5:50. Weight was 152.6.

Nice, cool morning for a ride. Temperatures in the 30’s and not much wind. At this point most of the snow alongside the roads has melted, so there’s room to ride while staying out the way of traffic. A few wide puddles frozen over though — diligence is always front and center.

Today’s route was a fairly flat 7.15 miles. Pace was 4:36. Weight was 151.0.

A good early morning to ride. Winter is letting up a bit. The temperature was in the low 40’s with a very stiff wind. Nowhere near the black ice risk as there was a few days ago.

Today’s ride was an 8.05 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 4:50. Weight was 152.4.

On the plus side, the temperature was “warmer” at about 30 degrees. On the minus side, there was black ice everywhere. I avoided it for the most part and only skidded out a bit once. Lots of creeping around corners and cautious navigating.

The route was a rather flat 7.15 mile route on the bike. Pace was about 5:00 due to the ice. Weight was 152.8.

A very cold morning. The sun being out brilliantly in a cloudless sky helps though. The wind was coming from the north so it was a bit chilly.

The route was a rolling 4.82 miles on the bike. Pace was 4:58, almost identical to yesterday. Weight was 151.6.

Early snow shoveling and then time on the bike. . Glad to be able to get out after a few days of iffy weather. Today’s actually the first day I’ve ridden right after a snowstorm. Very little snow on the roads except for the occasional driveway plow leftovers.

Distance on the bike was 8.05 miles on a rolling course. Pace was about 4:57. I wasn’t interested in anything faster — too cold for that. Weight was 152.6.
