A 62 year old's journey to qualify for the Boston Marathon
A day for a nice, easy, not-too-long run on a day before a race. Good, cool weather and no rain.
Today’s run was a 5.1 mile hills route. Pace was 9:21. Weight was 148.6.
A dark early morning for a longer run. It just seemed darker. Probably my imagination, but just a bit spooky.
Today’s run was a 12.5 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 9:26. Weight was 148.6 (again).
Today’s run was a 7.1 mile mostly flat route. Pace was 9:31. Weight was 148.6.
Fall early mornings are great for runs. Not humid, warm, etc. Just the best time.
Today’s run was a 5.1 mile hills route. Pace was 9:34. Weight was 148.6.
This is the route I used to think of as the “average” run. It’s too flat and short. Good off-day or recovery route, but not good enough for marathon training.
Today’s run was a 7.1 mile mostly flat route. Pace was 9:07. Weight was 147.2.
Nice early morning for a run. This is the route I want to get to as the “average” run.
Today’s run was a 10.6 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 9:34. Weight was 147.4.
Back to it. This is no time to slack off. The marathons are done for the year, but there are still a few 16.2 mile (5K + half marathon) and half marathon races to go.
Today’s run was a post-race 5.1 mile route with a few good hills. Legs feel a bit tired, but not sore. Pace was 9:35. Weight was 149.4.
Today was the Newport Marathon. Unfortunately, I only ended up running about 20.9 miles. Infuriating. I came up a hill, saw a race official person in the middle of the road, saw runners heading left instead of going straight, and just followed everyone else. What I should’ve done was follow the road I was on to the right and continue up the hill. No clue why nobody said anything. This was a just before mile 18, so I was getting a bit tired. In the end it was my job to know where to run. The most infuriating part was that I was on a pace for a PR. Live and learn, I guess.
Today’s race/run was an estimated 20.9 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 9:32. Weight was 148.4.
A last “easy” run before tomorrow’s marathon. Just get the legs going.
Today’s run was a 5.1 mile route with a few good hills. Pace was 9:39. Weight was 147.4.
Good morning for a run. It’s Fall but not the later Fall where the temperatures are getting low. Enjoy it while it’s here.
Today’s run was a 10.6 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 9:52.
