One more early morning that’s warm and steamy. 73 degrees and 93% humidity at 4AM. It’s good training weather but it’s also energy-sapping. It also takes at least 20 minutes to cool down. I just missed the rain — it started five minutes after I walked into the house.

The right hip area is still complaining, but it loosened up and wasn’t too bad. It doesn’t seem to be getting better but it’s also not getting worse. That’s what I’m more worried about.

Today’s run was a 10 mile rolling hills route. Pace was a 10:27. Total climb was around 545 feet.

A steamy early morning for a run. Temperature around 73 and 92% humidity. Great workout weather.

This is the first day back on the road after giving the right hip a few days to get a little better. I’ve not taken time off before when something gets strained, and usually it results in much more time off needed later. We’ll see.

Today’s run was a tempo 5.25 mile hills route. Pace was 9:48. Total climb was 280 feet.

What a day for an early morning run. Temperature at 4AM was around 75 degrees, with 95% humidity. Whew. The right leg/hip area is still annoyed but for now I plan to keep training and see if I can past it. It’s either that or take a few weeks off. No time for that! I’ve already “rested” things far too much.

Today’s run was a 12.6 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 10:30. The plan was for 14 miles, but I pulled up after about 11 miles to walk and cool down a bit. Total climb was 640 feet.

Today was a very short test to see how the right leg muscle pull was feeling. Not great, as it turns out. Beats me when it happened late last week. I think it’s a aggravation of an issue I noticed several weeks ago.

Today’s test run was a 1.1 mile loop and included a short, 10+% grade hill. Pace was 10:15. Total climb was 85 feet.

A perfect summer early morning for a run. Clear, last quarter Moon, temperature around 63 and rather calm winds. Most of the Covid-19 vaccine shot symptoms are gone. The energy level isn’t quite there yet, but it’ll get better.

Today’s run was a 14.05 mile rolling hills route. Pace is somewhere around 10:04. Hard to say how much of the time I spend held up at intersections is recognized by my watch. Total climb was about 715 feet.

First day back after a Covid-19 Moderna booster shot. Very tired. The side-effects last for a few days (fever, very achy joints, total lack of energy, etc.). With all the cases popping up in the news, I figured it’d be prudent to get a shot before getting on a plane in a few weeks to Wyoming.

Today’s run was a 9.96 mile rolling hills route. Pace was a slow 10:10. Total climb was 545 feet.

Nice, cool early morning for a run. Temperature around 64, bright Sun, and no wind.

I yanked something in the right glut last weekend. A few days of rest hasn’t seemed to help. I’m getting back on the road and I’ll deal with whatever as it complains. I felt it throughout the run and especially at the end on the steeper climb.

Today’s run was a 5.26 mile hills route, including a short 10+% climb at the end. Pace was 9:47. Total climb was about 125 feet.

A warm, very humid early morning for a run. Lots of bugs. Temperature around 75 degrees. A bit of a breeze in places, but nothing substantial.

I’m working on trying to relax and not get so tensed up during climbs. Relax the shoulders, legs, etc. Just breathe and stay loose. It helps. Tensing up for the “hard” parts is a complete waste of energy.

Today’s run was a 9.05 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 9:36. Total climb was 460 feet.

Training Log 07/15/2024

A very warm late morning for a short run. Temperature was around 89 degrees, heat index was about 99, high humidity and a baking Sun. Whew. Good training for running in the heat.

Today’s run was a short 2.33 mile route that includes a 0.15 mile hill at 10+% grade at the end. Pace was 9:14. Total climb was around 134 feet.

A day for some hills work. Very moist and mild. Temperature in the low 70’s and very humid. Perfect summer training weather.

Today’s run was a 2.84 mile route that is a warm-up and climb of a 0.87 mile hill that averages an over 9% grade. A wild guess (which seems very wrong) at the overall pace is 12+ minutes based on my watch only tracking part of the run. Not too important. Total climb was about 470 feet.
