Training Log 05/29/2024

Time to catch up on some log posts. It’s been a bit busy lately.

A cool, comfortable early morning for a run. Temperatures in the low 50’s and clear. I’d prefer 10 degrees warmer for training but it’s hard to protest cool air in general as we head into summer.

Today’s run was a 13.12 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 9:18. Total climb was about 645 feet.

Training Log 05/27/2024

Very glad to get in a longer run this morning. The schedule is still totally upside down. Get out there when I can.

Mild and sticky weather mid-morning: cloudy, temperature about 68 and very humid. I’ll take it. Way better than temperatures in the low 40’s. Time to get training in summer race conditions.

Today’s run was a 9.05 mile rolling hills route. Pace was a “seemed rather relaxed for some reason” 9:17. Weight was 146.4. Total climb was about 460 feet.

Training Log 05/26/2024

Worked in a short ride on the road on the racing bike. Got it off the indoor trainer, oiled it up, checked it over and went for a test ride. At least I did a little work on a very busy day.

Glad to get a run in today. Nice, sunny, cool/mild mid-morning. Not much training at all this week. We’ll see how it all goes for the next few weeks. Lake Placid in 15 days.

Today’s run was a 5.26 mile hills route, with a short 10+% grade hill at the end. Pace was 9:19. Weight was 145.2. Total climb was about 325 feet.

Training Log 05/23/2024

It’s been a busy few days. Somewhat exhausting as well. Interesting that I’m really bushed by the end of the day. Whatever.

First day that I think I can get out of the house for a run. Keep it short so as to not be gone too long. Feels good to at least get a little work in.

Today’s run was a 2.32 mile mostly flat route with a short 10+% grade hill at the end. Pace was 9:27. Weight was 145.8. Total climb was about 130 feet.

Training Log 05/20/2024

It’s going to be a hectic, stressful day that starts early. Some personal medical work on a family member. I figure that, for the next few days, I’ll get in what training I can. Keep the priorities straight.

Today’s run was a 2.18 mile rather flat recovery run. Pace was right about 10:00. Weight was 147.2. Total climb was only about 90 feet.

Training Log 05/19/2024

A cool, very wet and somewhat breezy early morning for a run. Temperature was around 50 degrees, some sporadic light rain and winds gusting to around 20 mph. Yeah, whatever. I’d prefer it to be warmer. Most races coming up will be 20+ degrees warmer once we get out on the race route. If you’re running in sun and warm air then that’s what you want (at least) to train in.

Haven’t felt anything in my right hip. A few days ago I did several hours of grass cutting and probably torqued it around a bit. Beats me where and when. It was sore last Wednesday evening and Thursday later in the day. I wanted more distance today but decided to keep the distance moderate to not push it too much. Fingers crossed.

Today’s run was a 17.92 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 10:04. Weight was 144.4. Total climb was about 750 feet.

Training Log 05/16/2024

An easy recovery run this morning. Weather was about 53 degrees, a bit of a breeze and light rain. A 13 mile run and then hours of grass mowing yesterday was a good workout.

Today’s run was an east 2.18 mile mostly flat route. Pace was 9:46. Weight was 145.2. Total climb was about 90 feet.

Training Log 05/15/2024

A very nice, calm, cool early morning for a run. Temperature around 58 degrees. Ideal. We’re about a month away from the summer solstice, so the mornings aren’t in the dark for long. I’ll take it while it lasts (which isn’t as long as I’d like).

Today’s run was a 13.12 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 9:47. Weight was 146.8. Total climb was about 645 feet.

Training Log 05/13/2024

A late morning run in the sun. I’ll take it. Shorts and a short-sleeve shirt. First day in a fully summer clothes, apart from the race eight days ago. Good to get out when it’s warmer. Last Saturday night/Sunday morning it was around 40 degrees. Not heat training weather at all.

Today’s run was a 5.11 mile hills route. Pace was 8:50. Weight was 147.2. Total climb was about 275 feet.
