Training Log 12/31/2023

Had to skip the past few days due to a bit of an emergency trip to Harrisburg. I could’ve packed running gear and put in some early morning work there, but in the rush to get out of the house I didn’t think of it. Oh, well. As they say, “best laid plans ….”

Today was an hour of good work on the bike. Whew.

Training Log 12/25/2023

Today was one of those tired mornings. Grit your teeth and push through it. Mild though — temperature probably around 40. It rained yesterday but the roads were fine.

Forgot to charge my watch, and it died after about 78 minutes. Not a big deal. Take a rough guess — that’s good enough.

Today’s run was a 9.02 mile rolling hills route. Pace was an estimated 10:00 or so. Total climb was about 460 Ft. Weight was 146.4.

Training Log 12/24/2023

A comfortable morning for a run. Temperature around 32 and not really much of a breeze. No rain, either. Nice to get out a bit later in the morning after the Sun’s up so I can see all the potholes and patches.

Today’s run was a 13.09 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 9:52. Total climb was 640 Ft. Weight was 146.4.

Whew. About an hour of stiff work on the bike. You know it’s been a bit of a workout if you’re feeling it several hours later. We all know that strictly running (and nothing else) isn’t the best training approach.

Today’s ride on the indoor trainer was 59 minutes. Weight was 146.0.

Nice early morning for a run. Normal cold (28 degrees or so) for this time of year, not much of a breeze, etc. Several places where there’s black ice, though. After the crazy storm on Monday/Tuesday, I figured that there would still be some water around.

Today’s run was a 9.02 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 9:56. Total climb was about 460 feet. Weight was 146.2.

Training Log 12/17/2023

Cross-training day on the bike. It’s rather boring, but also a good workout for the legs. Later in the day I didn’t notice the odd issue with my right knee from the last bike work. Beats me, but knee issues aren’t something I ignore.

Today’s ride was a 46-minute workout.

A clear, crisp but not too cold early morning. A bit of a cold wind in places. Lots of traffic. I had to stop probably five or six times. That includes waiting for emergency vehicles to go by. Crazy.

Today’s run was a 13.09 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 9:40. Total climb was about 640 feet.

Training Log 12/12/2023

Today’s a day for some bike work. I’m not fond of the indoor trainer, but it’s too cold to be on the road on a bike. I tried that and about froze my fingers and toes off. It also gummed up the gears, brakes, etc.

Today’s ride was about 59 minutes. Estimate that’s about 12 miles.

Training Log 12/09/2023

Good early morning for a run. Didn’t feel too bad at all after a few days off. I’ve modified the routes that I’ve used in the past to lessen the exposure to traffic, busier intersections, etc. Not bad, but it is, let’s say, a bit more elaborate. Haven’t noticed any critter issues on the back roads — hopefully there won’t be any skunks out and about come Spring.

Today’s run was a 11.17 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 10:08. Total climb was about 585 feet.
