A nice, cool, damp and clear morning for a run. Head down and push. Felt rather tired but I ignored it. Pushing a bit when you’re feeling it in the legs is when you make the most progress. That and not being lazy and taking days off.

On Tuesday I felt some discomfort in the left shin. Odd. I hated to take Wednesday off but maybe that twinge was telling me that a rest day was in order. I did just run a marathon.

Today’s run was a 12.5 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 9:22. Weight was 146.4.

First run after Sunday’s race. Tired. So what. Time to ramp up the miles. That was the problem on Sunday: too many shorter runs, no long runs, too many days off, etc. Lesson learned.

Today’s run was an 8.05 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 9:46. Weight was 147.0.

Whew. The race route wasn’t as hilly as I thought, but still a challenge. The real conclusion(s) from the race are that the lack of long runs and the daily “put in the miles” showed itself clearly. Just look at the splits times and how the pace just went through the floor. Lesson learned.

Today’s run was the Lake Placid Marathon. Time was 4:26:36, or a 10:10 pace. They collected split times (which is terrific to have!) say it all:

With the race tomorrow, today was a another short run just to get the legs warm. Nice and measured.

Today’s run was a short 2.18 mile rather flat route. Pace was 9:55. Forgot to check the weight.

A short recovery run this morning. Yesterday was a 12.5 mile run and then well over an hour of grass cutting. Felt tired at the start, but it improved. Exactly what a recovery run is for.

Today’s run was a 2.18 mile rather flat route. Pace was 9:51. Weight was 144.6.

An oddly tired early morning run. Muscles complained that they were tired, but ignoring the complaining worked just fine. We’ll see how the recovery goes through the day.

Nice morning for a run. Temperature around 52 and mostly clear skies. I was thinking that in no time it’ll be dark again when I’m on the road and it’ll be back to trying to find and dodge the potholes.

Today’s run was a 12.5 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 9:39. Weight was 147.2.

A bit of a recovery run this morning. Take it easy and relax. No push at all. It’s a damp, drizzly, 51 degree early morning, so just relax.

Today’s run was an 8.05 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 9:56. Weight was 146.0.

More hills work today. There’s a loop right at the house that includes a short (0.1 mile) hill with about a 10+% grade and 60 feet of climb. Ran 10 of those loops today. Races in June, July and August have some climb, and besides it’s good work.

Today’s run was a 9.15 mile hills route. Pace was 9:50. Weight was 145.2.

A cool, wet morning. Temperature around 53 degrees, misting and blowing a bit. Whatever. It’s interesting that, once I get out on the run, all that stuff pretty much blends into the background. Looking forward to the heat — better training.

Today’s run was a one mile warm-up and one climb up the Blue Hills Service Road. Total about 1.97 miles. The climb is 0.87 miles and 415 or so feet of climb. “Pace” was 11:14. Weight was 144.6.
