Training Log 03/30/2023

Not quite as cold this morning, but far windier. It does blow some debris on the roads, and in the dark it’s harder to see. Running into the wind is actually a good thing — more work per mile. That’s what I’m out here for.

Today’s run was a relaxed 11 mile rolling hills route. Pace was about 10:00. Hard to say exactly — too many stops for traffic. Weight was 146.0.

A cold-ish morning. Clear and not much wind, but the breeze at times froze the nose a bit. It’s the last days of the cold weather. Enjoy it while it’s here.

Today’s run was a 12.5 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 9:59 or so. Hard to estimate how much time is lost waiting at street crossing, red lights, etc. Weight was 146.6.

Woke up yesterday with a kink in my back. Weird. Decided to take a day and rest & stretch a bit. It was supposed to be a long run. Hate to miss those.

Today was an ideal early morning for a run. Temperatures around 34 degrees and clear skies. The breeze was a bit nippy, though.

Today’s run was a 13.1 mile hills route. Pace was 10:05. Weight was 147.0.

Today was one of those mornings we all look forward to oh so much. A few tenths of a mile in and already feeling weary. Some days are energetic and others are a slog. Whatever. Head down and go.

Today’s run was a 13.1 mile hills route (1000+ feet of climb) that included a short, 10+% grade hill four times. Pace was 10:05. Weight was 146.6.

Cool morning for a run. Not a strong wind, but it still froze the face a bit.

Didn’t feel too bad at all. I’ve been focused more on ramping up distance and not worrying about pace, but today I decided to up the pace a little. Push the hamstring and see what happens. So far, no issues.

Today’s run was a 12.5 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 9:29. Weight was 146.6.

The day after a longer run is always slow to start. Today was no different. Not bad, though, once I got going. Early morning temperatures are still hanging around 30 degrees.

Today’s run was a 5.24 mile hills route. Pace was 9:52. Weight was 146.4.

Training Log 03/19/2023

Long run Sunday. I’m dialing it back for a few weeks to ramp up to the end target of 24.5 each Sunday. A gradual approach — no injuries, please. The run felt OK, with joints and a few tendons feeling it for the last few miles. The weather was about 33 degrees and cold winds gusting to 22 mph. It tends to freeze the face a bit.

Today’s run was a 17.31 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 9:54. Weight was 145.2 before the run and 143.8 after.

Training Log 03/16/2023

I decided to scale down a bit from the planned 11 mile run this morning. The knees were a bit sore yesterday. I didn’t pay attention last year and paid the price. Didn’t notice anything on the run today.

Nice, cool early morning. The wind was a bit cold, but that’s not going to be an issue for much longer. In no time it’ll be a sauna at 4AM.

Today’s run was an 8.05 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 9:48. Weight was 145.0.

A cool and very windy early morning. The snow and ice weren’t issues. Temperatures were around 33 to 34, so that and the salt spread around kept things clear. Shoes pick up small bits of salt but I’ll take that over ice any day.

Today’s run was a 13.1 mile hills route, including four climbs of a short 10+% grade hill. Total climb was about 1010 feet. Pace was 10:23. Weight was 145.0.

Not a bad early morning for a run. Temperature about 33 degrees but no stiff winds to freeze your face off. Still feeling tired on runs but pressing on.

Today’s run was a 5.24 mile hills route that includes two climbs of the short, 10+% grade hill by the house. Pace was 9:42. Weight was 147.2.
