Training Log 11/30/2022

Nice, mild (for late November) morning for a run. Taking it easy and not pushing anything is not my strongest characteristic, but “one thing at a time” with the knee is top priority right now. If it takes longer then it takes longer.

Today’s run was a 4.83 mile hills route that included running the short 10%+ grade hill twice. Pace was an annoying 10:04. Weight was 146.2.

Rain’s on the way but it’s not here yet. Nice, cool morning for the first real “long run Sunday.”

Today’s run was a 12.5 mile rolling hills route. Total climb of about 585 feet. Pace was a “who cares” 10:07. Weight was 146.0.

Training Log 11/26/2022

Another cool and clear early morning. The breeze was a bit cold. Signs of things to come.

Today’s run was a 2.32 mile mostly flat route, with the short 10%+ grade hill at the end. Pace was 9:55.

Training Log 11/25/2022

A mild morning for a run. It rained earlier, and there’s more on the way. Whatever. All I care about is what to wear.

Today’s run was a 10.6 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 10:01. Weight was 146.2.

Training Log 11/24/2022

First race in a long time. It’s only a 5K, but it’s good to be pinning on a bib again. The “race” was an 8AM “turkey trot” with lots of families. Kids everywhere. Great to see.

Today’s race was a 3.1 mile very mildly rolling route. Pace was 8:48. Weight was 146.0.

What a crazy morning. I planned on a long 12.5 mile route that went across Rt. 1 and along a road behind the Gillette Stadium in Foxboro. No dice. It was late enough in the morning (just before 10AM probably) on a football day. Police have pedestrian traffic closed across Rt.1. Ugh! Time to improvise. Not ideal but better than just turning around.

Today’s run was a hacked 10.43 mile rolling hills route. Pace was a shocking 9:34. I thought I was puttering along at a 10+ minute/mile pace. Weight was 146.0.

From past experience, I know that pace comes with work. Don’t worry about the pace. Get the distance ramped up and stick to it, and the speed will improve. It also takes time. Patience. Relax. Hard to do sometimes.

Today’s run was a 4.83 mile hills route. Pace was a better 9:31. Didn’t feel like I was really pushing. Weight was 146.0 again.

Another cool morning. One of the challenges as it gets colder is to judge what to wear to be warm enough but not too warm. I had a bit too much this morning. Trial and error.

Today’s run was an 8.05 mile rolling hills route. So nice to be ramping up the distance. Pace was 9:49. Weight was 146.0.
