Training Log 06/29/2022

A cool morning for a ride. Good work. Get after it. The knee doesn’t complain, so that’s good. I can feel that it’s still healing and needs more time, but all I can do is give it the time it’ll require. If I had only stopped months ago when I first felt something.

Today’s ride was an 8.05 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 4:34.

The early morning grind. Get up, get going. It’s resistance. It’ll be interesting to see how they reproduce the grind in the metaverse. It’s what separates the talkers and the pretenders from the doers.

Today’s ride was a 6.28 mile mildly rolling route. No climbs, just grades. Pace was 4:42.

Training Log 06/26/2022

Cool but not too cool for an early morning ride. Not much traffic. Not a cloud in the sky. Also, no knee pain. I expect three more weeks or so at least.

Today’s ride was an 8.05 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 4:30.

Training Log 06/25/2022

Adding distance. Not much vertical. Also no issues at all. It’s back-and-forth on a stretch that’s not too far from home, just in case.

Today’s ride was a 10.42 mile mildly rolling route. Pace was 4:39.

Training Log 06/23/2022

Hopefully four weeks off from running will be enough. With the cross-training on the bike, maybe I can get back and up to distance in time to run the Newport Marathon.

A few days ago I felt some discomfort under the kneecap when climbing. Today, not really. Maybe. I might not have been pushing very hard. Whatever. Get it done.

Today’s ride was a 6.28 mile mildly rolling route. Pace was 4:56.

Switching back to the bike, and scrapping upcoming races. Hate it, but the knee is in charge. I figure I’ll avoid running for four solid weeks. If I have to stop, might as well really stop. After a few weeks I’ll start mild pressure and twisting tests, and use those to inform when it’s OK to start running again.

Today’s ride was an easy 4.62 file mildly rolling route. Pace was 5:13.

Training Log 06/15/2022

Today’s run was an 8.05 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 9:56. Taking it as easy as possible to see if I can still run on this knee, or if I need to back off for several weeks to really let things heal.

Training Log 06/14/2022

Took a few days off to rest the knee. Put the brace on yesterday (try anything, right?), took some Allieve last night, and woke up this morning feeling fine. Strange.

Today’s run was a 4.21 mile mildly flat route. Pace was 9:50.

Training Log 06/11/2022

A later morning run. Get out in the sun to get used to it. Unfortunately, later means more traffic. Some drivers like to get a bit close as the go by to remind you that they own the road. Whatever. Just keep your head down and work.

Today’s run was a 6.88 mile rolling hills route. Pace was 9:47.
