Training Log 01/29/21

A very cold morning. The wind chill (“feel like”) temperature was -16 to -19 degrees. Whatever. Shut up and do it.

The knee still hurts but it feels like something that work will help to heal. Odd. I had turned my ankle (sometime) a few weeks ago and that also was a bother on runs. Over the days it became less and less noticeable. I have no plans to stop unless I’m forced to.

Today was the same partially rolling 2.15 or so miles course at a 9:52 pace. All the layers and running into that frigid wind wind does slow me down a bit. Weight was 153.

Training Log 01/28/21

Nice, not-too-cold morning for a run. Roads were clear from the snow, not much wind at all, and about 28 degrees.

I did notice some steady, mild pain in the knee. I have a few ideas, e.g., foam roller work, to try. I don’t notice any real issues just walking around.

Today run was 2.15 miles on a partially rolling course at a 9:43 pace. Weight was 152.4.

Training Log 01/27/21

A snowy and relatively warm early morning for a run. Roads were sloppy with snow and there were many places where it’s just do whatever to stay upright. Temperature was about 30 degrees so what was on the road was like mush. Whatever.

Distance today was about 2.15 miles on a part mild rolling and part flat course. Pace was 9:52. Weight was 152.2

Training Log 01/26/21

Another cold and mostly clear early morning. Temperature was around 16 degrees and not much of a breeze.

No real issues with the knee. I didn’t notice it at all for the most part. I’m trying to take it easy on the downhill parts to not add any stress.

Today’s run was a 1.51 mile route with a few hills. Pace was 9:36. Weight was 152.6. Weight seems to bounce around a bit.

Training Log 01/25/21

A cold and very clear morning, perfect for a run. There is some soreness in different parts of the knee but the sensation seems to be there for a minute or so and doesn’t seem to be a cause for concern. I’m not noticing any post-run issues.

Today’s run was about 1.51 miles at a 9:40 pace. Weight is 150.8.

Training Log 01/24/21

Some things around the knee do hurt a bit, but I think it’s more of a post-injury soreness than anything that’s not healed. I figure that I’ll work slowly to get back on the road but at a nice, gradual pace.

Today’s run was about 1.5 miles with some hills and at a 9:48 pace. Weight is 151 lbs.

Training Log 01/23/21

Time to try some running on the knee. A very easy “around the block” course to see if there’s any pain. Nothing really! As the day then progressed I didn’t notice any issues. Oh, finger crossed for tomorrow morning. It felt so good to be out on the road in the cold breeze.

Distance: 0.65 miles at a 9:33 pace. Weight is 150.6.

Training Log 01/11/21

Back from the college move-in for our daughter. Today is the first day to try some running. After about a quarter-mile the pain just under the kneecap returned. However, after I finished the pain I felt when I crouched down as far as I could wasn’t there at all. Interesting.

Distance: 0.64 miles at a 9:31 pace. Weight today is 149.2.
